Windlands 2 Finally Grapples Onto PlayStation VR This Friday – VRFocus

For the launch of the Oculus Rift way back in 2016, Psytec Games challenged players to navigate environments using grab hooks in Windlands. Its successor Windlands 2 improved gameplay and added a multiplayer component. In 2018 when Windlands 2 arrived at PC VR headsets, the studio mentioned that a PlayStation VR version was in the works before it went quiet until this summer, and reappeared, saying a launch was not far off. And now there is certainly not much time to wait as the swinging adventure arrives in a few days.

So it does Windlands 2 a 2018 virtual reality (VR) title coming out at the end of 2021, with much more competition in this particular space from e.g. Yupitergrad, Swarm, Grapple Tournament and more. In it you will swing from trees, buildings and basically everything the double grab hooks can attach to, and explore the colorful, wide-open views. However, you do not have to spend all your time in the air as you can run around on the surface to find hidden secrets.

What you will notice is that for the most part Windlands 2 is a fairly serene, swing-based puzzle game. Psytec Games added an action element to this sequel by adding Titans, giant bosses to kill to advance through the campaign. While you can receive these monsters alone, the addition of a 4-player co-op mode makes these sections even more fun, allowing for a team-based strategy. Of course, you do not use your grab hooks, instead you have to master swinging through the air while releasing shots from your bow.

There’s more to come once you’ve completed your main campaign. Skill-based Speed Run Races really put these swing skills to the test, or you can always try the assembly challenges. Both of these have global rankings. Or there are the many advanced modes that include “no hooks”, “a life” and “hook anything” to keep things interesting.
