The popular multiplayer VR mech fighting game Vox Machinae will soon have its very own single player campaign.
Developer Space Bullet revealed the news on its website today. Vox Machinae’s campaign has been under development over the past two years and will take players on a planet-jumping adventure across the solar system.
In its advertising blog, the developer promised: “Fresh locations along with the battle-tested maps from multiplayer are emerging and are now hosting a gripping new story.”
To that end, the team has created a cast of characters to nurture the story and serve as your crew as you go between missions. Space Bullet also promises great scale for the game’s environments and mechanisms to be seen in VR to appreciate their scope.
When we last tried Vox Machinae way back in 2018, we said the game was one of the most immersive mech fighters yet seen. “All in all, the Vox Machinae has a lot in it that really makes it feel special in the VR space,” we said. “You will not find another game that lets you interact with as many elements of the battle to get actual, immediate results in terms of gameplay as you do here.”
A release date for the campaign was not announced today, though the developer confirmed that it will arrive as a free update to anyone who already owns the game. The arrival of the campaign will also see the game jump out of the launch of Early Access and into a full 1.0 release.
