The teams from the United States and Panama qualified for the next edition of the Copa Américato be played in 2024 on American territory, after having reached the semifinals of the Concacaf Nations League.

The United States, which despite being the organizer was not classified, qualified for the tournament by losing its visit to Trinidad and Tobago 2-1, having won the first leg by a comfortable 3-0.

The goals of the match played at Hasely Crawford Stadium, in Port of Spain, were scored by Antonee Robinson (25 minutes) for the Americans and Reon Moore (43m) and Alvin Jones (57m) for the Trinidadians.

For its part, Panama qualified by beating Costa Rica, 3-1, led by Argentine Gustavo Alfaro, in a match held at the Rommel Fernández stadium, in the Panamanian capital.

The goals for Panama, which had won the first leg 3-0, were scored by José Fajardo (21m), José Luis Rodríguez (24m) and Édgar Bárcenas (43m from a penalty kick, while Francisco Calvo (52m) scored for the “Ticos.”

On this day the other two quarterfinal matches will be played: Mexico will host Honduras (at 11:30 p.m. in Argentina) and Canada will host Jamaica (9:30 p.m.).

The Mexicans fell 2-0 in Honduras while Canada will host Jamaica with a 2-1 lead.

Costa Rica, Trinidad and Tobago and the losers of tonight’s matches will play the “Play in” in a single match in March 2024 to define the other two teams that will play in the Copa América.

In the 2024 Copa América, in which Argentina will defend the title it obtained brilliantly in the Brazil 2021 edition, 16 teams will compete, the 10 that usually make up it from Conmebol and an additional six from Concacaf.
