Surprise in Vila do Conde with Benfica, winner of the Super Cup, losing to Caxinas 3-2, wasting a two-goal lead. In four minutes, Mário Silva’s team went from heaven to hell and ended up suffering their first defeat in the championship and their first ever against Caxinas in six matches.

Before the opening whistle, Ricardinho (Caxinas) and Lúcio (Benfica) were honored for winning the European under-19 title. Afterwards, there was a red party. Chishkala scored in the first minute and the Eagles continued to dominate until the break, although they were unable to overcome goalkeeper Tiago Sacramento’s opposition again. Caxinas’ most dangerous move in this period came from the feet of Renan Fuzo in the 17th minute, with the ball hitting the crossbar. The start of the second half brought the same argument, with Benfica on top and reaching the second goal, again through Chishkala. At 32′, Mário Silva’s five hit the 5th foul and started to add less intensity to the duels. Caxinas then adopted the five against four and Nuno Silva’s bet paid off. Supported by the fans, Caxinas managed to win, with goals from Márcio Moreira (36′), Fuzo (38′) and Francisco Oliveira (39′).
