SplashLearn- Free Math Games for Kindergarten to Grade 5

SplashLearn (formerly Splash Math) is a game-based platform that offers curriculum-adapted materials for teaching mathematics to students in kindergarten to 5th grade. Teachers can create classes and invite their students to participate using a unique numeric code. SlpashLearn allows you to create different types of assignments and assessments and gives you the tools to track student progress, share performance reports with parents, and plan differentiated and individualized learning pathways for students.

SplashLearn can be used in both the classroom and distance learning settings (and also in hybrid flipped classrooms). Teachers can use the platform to design and perform formative and summative assessments, provide learning practices for specific mathematical skills, supplement the teaching that takes place in the classroom, boost students’ independent and self-directed learning, and much more.

How to create a class in SplashLearn?

SplashLearn allows you to create classes and invite students to join. To create a class, land into your teacher account, and from the dashboard click on Class and select Add class. Choose whether to import a class from Google Classroom or from Clever or create a new class from scratch. For the latter option, enter the class name, select a class level (Kindergarten to 5th grade), and click Create New Class. You can then easily add students to your class by adding their names or copy-paste from a spreadsheet.

SplashLearn student login

There are two ways students can access SplashLearn: with a class code or through parental access. A class code is the numeric code that teachers generate for the classes they create on SplashLearn. Students can sign up and use the generated 6-digit class code to participate. Once logged in, they can select their profile and enter their passwords. From the students’ dashboard, students can access the My Tasks card, which is assigned by the teacher. My chores include both homework and classroom assignments.

What is Home Access and how is it activated for students?

Home Access is a feature that is multi-game-based platforms (eg Quizalize, Kahoot, Quizlet, Blooket and Quizizz) are used to enable students to work on their assignmentsts at home and at their own pace.

Home Access is a key feature of SlashLearn and can be used both to supplement classroom instruction and to engage parents in student learning through shared reports. Home Access also gives parents access to teacher-assigned content for students. To enable Home Access, go to your SplashLearn teacher account and click on the Home Access tab. Then enter the email address of the student’s parents and click to send the invitation link for home access.

How to create tasks on SplashLearn?

Tasks are especially useful for giving students more opportunities to practice and master a given skill. To create a new task, teachers must log in to their teacher account, click Assign and select New Task. Choose from the syllabus-adapted assignments and click on Assess.

Depending on the purpose of your assignment, SplashLearn allows you to assign assignments to selected students (such as those who need help practicing certain skills) or the entire class. Teachers can keep track of assigned activities. They can monitor class progress on assigned activities, and they can also reassign, edit, or delete assignments.

How to give assessments?

The assessment function in SplashLearn allows teachers to identify learning gaps at a particular skill level and evaluate students’ understanding of the materials taught. Teachers can use assessment reports to differentiate teaching / learning and design personal intervention plans.

To give an assessment, log in to your teacher account, click on Assess on the left side. Select New assessment and choose from the options there. Assessment covers important areas of mathematics, including addition, subtraction, measurement and data, counting and cadinality and geometry.

Classroom reports

SplashLearn offers three types of reports: Daily Activity Report, Class Progress, and Student Progress. In it Daily activity reports, teachers can access detailed statistics about students’ activities in the SplashLearn class, including who logged in and who was absent, ‘how much time they spent learning what they learned and how well they did’ .

Student status report provides insight into each student’s progress that helps teachers identify learning gaps and into the planning of individualized remedial work. Classroom progress reports enables teachers to monitor classroom performance. Teachers can also email students’ status reports to parents and allow them to keep track their children’s learning progress. To do this, teachers must add parents’ email addresses to the respective students.

Is SplashLearn free?

SplashLearn is free for classrooms and teachers. There is a premium version with full access to all features for free. But in order for students to unlock all content on SplashLearn, they need a premium subscription: a quarterly plan for $ 35.99 or an annual plan for $ 89.99.
