Oaktree selling further stake in Hafnia

The American private equity company Oaktree Capital Management has moved to sell 25.2 million. shares in the Oslo-listed product tanker unit of BW Group, Hafnia.

Oaktree-controlled OCM Luxembourg Chemical Tankers has hired Fearnley Securities, Jefferies and Pareto Securities to investigate a potential block sale of existing shares equivalent to approx. 5.01% through a directed issue.

The share price is set at NOK 50, which corresponds to approximately NOK 1.26 billion. NOK (127.6 million USD).

Oaktree currently controls about 50.2 million shares in Hafnia, only 10% left. If the transaction goes through, Guillaume Philippe Gerry Bayol, CEO of Oaktree’s GFI Energy Group, will step down from Hafnia’s board.

Hafnia commercially operates a fleet of 254 ships, of which 123 are owned. Last yearOaktree sold almost half of its stake in the tanker giant for NOK 1.9 billion.
