Recently retired Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden is being removed from Madden NFL 22 after hateful emails surfaced, with EA Sports announcing a near future update, will replace him in the game. The annual sports title was launched in August and brought a number of improvements, with the majority of the changes coming to the new generation of console versions of Madden 22. This included more realistic atmospheres in the stadium and better AI functionality through the NFL Next Gen Stats and the new Madden also usually updated the current league player and coach lists.
Perhaps the most marked improvement in Madden 22 is dynamic gameplay. This new system affects how the crowd reacts to situations, and spectators can even directly influence the action on the court, making home court advantages an actual game mechanic. For example, a loud roar can drown out a quarterback and make mistakes on the snap more likely. Players also have access to more endzone festivities than previous entries, and there are additional broadcast packages to Madden 22 game.
On Wednesday, EA Sports revealed that it will remove former Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden from Madden NFL 22 after offensive emails appearing in public. The pot is replaced with a “generic similarity“in a title update plan for release”in the coming weeks. “Gruden and the Las Vegas Raiders announced his departure earlier this week after his use of misogyny and homophobic language in a series of emails that have surfaced.” New York Times report, Gruden made derogatory remarks regarding female referees and a gay player, and he also made offensive remarks about player protests and used a homophobic slur when talking about NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. The e-mails in question were sent between 2011 and 2018, and the league is also investigating other e-mails in which Gruden has allegedly used a racist term when describing a player.
Prior to its promise to remove the controversial coach, EA Sports recently held the Campus Legends event in Madden 22. This introduced a number of iconic and historic college teams to Superstar KO mode along with an entire collection of former players. Current NFL players could also play on their former college teams as part of the event, which was a big draw for college football fans.
The fact that EA is removing Jon Gruden from Madden NFL 22 is not surprising. The former coach has, after all, faced widespread condemnation from those inside and outside the sport for his comments, and the publisher will have no affiliation with him. It is a pity that the removal process will not be immediate, but Gruden will soon be absent from Madden 22‘s virtual Las Vegas Raiders as he is currently from the right team.
