Independiente and Banfield finished without goals

El Rojo and El Taladro did not go beyond a draw and ended up tied without goals in their match on date 13 of Argentina – Professional League Cup 2023.

Independiente finished with more possession than its rival (66% over 34%) but it was not enough to win.

The best player of the match was Rodrigo Rey. The Independiente goalkeeper excelled by saving 4 shots and making 12 correct passes.

Ignacio Rodríguez was another of the key players. The Banfield midfielder was precise with 17 effective passes and looked for the opposite goal twice.

The match was highlighted by a lot of friction and constant fouls that interrupted the game. There were a large number of reprimands: Juan Francisco Bisanz, Emanuel Insúa, Milton Giménez, Gerónimo Rivera, Alexis Canelo and Nicolás Sosa Sánchez.

Independiente coach Carlos Tévez proposed a 4-3-3 formation with Rodrigo Rey in goal; Mauricio Isla, Javier Báez, Joaquín Laso and Damián Pérez on the defensive line; Kevin López, Iván Marcone and Lucas González in the middle; and Alexis Canelo, Matías Giménez and Braian Martínez in the attack.

For their part, Julio César Falcioni’s side came out with a 4-5-1 scheme with Facundo Cambeses under the three sticks; Emmanuel Coronel, Alexander Maciel, Aaron Quiros and Emmanuel Insúa in defense; Eric Remedi, Juan Pablo Alvarez, Ezekiel Cañete, Ignacio Rodriguez and Juan Francisco Bisanz in midfield; and Milton Gimenez in forward.

Nicolás Lamolina was the referee who directed the match at the Caldera del Diablo.

Rojo’s next game in the championship will be as a visitor against Talleres, while Taladro will host Gimnasia.
