Today, October 26, marks Mother-in-Law’s Day, a date that is not yet widely celebrated in Spain but that has more followers every year. A journalist from Texas had this idea of dedicating one day a year to mothers-in-law, and he managed to have it celebrated for the first time in the town of Amarillo in 1935. In the 1970s, the American Society of Florists decided that it would be would celebrate the last Sunday in October.
Mother-in-law’s Day has begun to spread little by little around the world thanks to social networks, although it is still far from being as popular as Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, but every year it has more followers. And mothers-in-law, jokes aside, are an important part of the family nucleus and childcare and are always willing to offer the warmth of their home, homemade food and gestures of affection.
Of course there is also a day dedicated to the father-in-law, and it takes place in summer: July 30.
This October 26 is a good opportunity to have a detail with the mothers-in-law on their special day. These are some ideas to surprise them:
