Huawei MateBook D 16 and MateBook 16s with 12th gen Intel processors are coming to Europe

Last month, Huawei unveiled the MateBook D 16 and MateBook 16s with 12th generation Intel processors. It was only for China, but Huawei plans to sell these two in Europe as well.

The two laptops were unveiled at an event in Istanbul, Turkey. They were joined by the foldable flagship Huawei Mate Xs 2, the recently announced phone Huawei nova Y90 and Y70 (which was previously unveiled). The 10.3 “e-ink tablet, the Huawei MatePad Paper, was also demonstrated (if that sounds interesting, check out our review).

Back to the laptops. The pair of 16 ”Windows 11 machines will soon be available in Europe, but we’m still waiting for Huawei to release pricing information and more specific launch details.

The Huawei MateBook D 16 has an aluminum housing that measures 18.4 mm thick and weighs 1.7 kg (3.75 lbs), which is not much for a 16 ”laptop. It has a 16:10 IPS LCD resolution (1,920 x 1,200 px, 142ppi) and promises impressive image quality with 100% sRGB coverage, 1,200: 1 contrast ratio and 300 nits brightness.

There are two processor options – Intel Core i5-12450H or Core i7-12700H. The former has UHD graphics (48 EU, 1.2 GHz), the latter has the more capable Iris Xe graphics (96 EU, 1.4 GHz). There is no option for dedicated graphics.

You can configure the laptop with 8 or 16 GB of RAM, storage is set at 512 GB (NVMe SSD). The laptop has a 60Wh battery and two USB-C ports that can be used for charging (one also does DisplayPort). In addition, there is a USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, a USB 2.0, an HDMI port and a 3.5mm combo headphones plus microphone jack. The MateBook D 16 comes with the necessary 65W power adapter and USB cable.

Note: there is an AMD-powered version of the MateBook D 16 (Ryzen 4600H), but today’s itself was focused on the Intel-powered model.

Huawei MateBook 16s is another 16 “laptop, although the screen on this has 3: 2 aspect ratio (2,520 x 1,680 px resolution). It is still an IPS LCD with 100% sRGB coverage, even better gives the higher contrast at (1,500 : 1) and factory calibration with an average deltaE of less than 1 (ie as good as possible).

This is also powered by 12th generation H-Series Intel processors, meaning 40W TDP. You can also have it with dual-channel RAM and an NVMe SSD.
