Comment: AirPods 3 from an AirPods Pro user’s perspective

Ever since I got my hands on the AirPods Pro, I’ve almost been an advocate for their qualities. Not only because they fit perfectly in my ears, but because I wanted the ANC when I was on a bus or a plane, and second-generation AirPods did not give me that.

After two years of using the AirPods Pro, I finally had the chance to try the AirPods 3, and here are my impressions of these wireless earphones.

PS It is important to note that this article only makes sense because I have never had any issues with AirPods. All of them, since the first generation, have been sitting perfectly in my ears. If some AirPods happen to not fit properly into yours, just forward this article, because my argument will not make a difference to you.

I have been using AirPods almost since they were released and I have been amazed at its quality and instant connectivity. So, when I switched from AirPods 2 to AirPods Pro, one thing I’ve always noticed was the fact that AirPods Pro feels very present in my ears. Although they do not make me uncomfortable, I am always aware that they are there.

When I finally tried the AirPods 3, I realized to my delight right away that they feel like disappearing in my ears in the best possible way. I can use it for as long as six hours and have no problems. It’s like the music magically reaches my ears.

Future AirPods models could be smart
AirPods Pro

Not only that, but for the first time, I was able to listen to a difference in sound quality that compared AirPods 2 to AirPods 3. In quiet environments, AirPods 3 sounds the same as AirPods Pro with louder bass. Spatial Audio support is also a great trick, and it’s great for listening to songs, watching originals from Apple TV +, and relaxing with apps like Portal.

The new form factor in AirPods 3 is also another selling point. More like the AirPods Pro, it has touch sensors in the stern, which is great for going back / forth to songs, play / pause or call Siri. Siri has been more responsive than I ever thought it would – even when she used the personal assistant in Portuguese and asked about songs in English.

Last but not least, I love the MagSafe charging case. It works perfectly with my MagSafe Duo charger and is much more convenient than a regular Qi charger stand. Of course, I had to buy a 20W USB-C power adapter, but it’s part of this new Apple ecosystem.

AirPods 3 lightness also comes with a price

If you’re considering buying AirPods 3, whether it’s because your original couple or another generation is finally dying, then pay attention to this small but important detail: Where do you worry about not listening to your surroundings?

Although AirPods 3 is a big improvement over AirPods 2, it is very easy to notice external sounds. With AirPods Pro, on the other hand, you can isolate yourself when you turn on Active Noise Reduction. So it is important to keep that in mind.

Not only that, but right now it’s very easy to find AirPods Pro for the same price – sometimes less – than AirPods 3. And again, with AirPods Pro you can get ANC and Transparency mode.

On behalf of the AirPods 3, you get a little more use without charging it, and it has a new sensor that can tell if you have removed an earphone from your ear or not. Another thing that makes AirPods 3 really useful is whether you make a lot of calls or online meetings. Since they do not feel as present in your ears as AirPods Pro, they are more comfortable to use for long periods of time.

What do you think of AirPods 3? Do you prefer them over AirPods Pro, or are second generation AirPods still your favorite? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
