Rumor has it that Apple is working on a larger version of the MacBook Air, which is expected to measure up to 15 inches, making it on par with the MacBook Pro. This guide covers everything we know about the 15-inch MacBook Air so far.
Dimensioning
The 2022 version of the BookMacBook Air measures 13.6 inches, so a 15-inch version would be significantly larger. It would be between the 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, and it would be the largest version of the acMacBook Air to date. Rumor has it that the acMacBook Air will measure up to 15.2 inches specifically.
At 15.2 inches, the MacBook Air would be 0.2 inches smaller than the previously available 15.4-inch MacBook Air. With thinner frames like the 2022 MacBook Air, a 15-inch MacBook Air could be significantly smaller than the 15.4-inch MacBook Air.
Apple has not offered the MacBook Air in two sizes since the 11-inch MacBook Air was released in 2016.
Design
The 15-inch MacBook Air is expected to use the same overall design as the 2022 13-inch MacBook Air, which in turn takes design elements from the MacBook Pro. It will have the flat angular design with large Force Touch touchpad, keyboard with function keys and no fan.
Like the 222022 MacBook Air, it is expected to include a MagSafe charging port, a 1080p camera and an upgraded speaker system.
Screen
Apple’s 15-inch MacBook Air is not expected to have mini-LED or ProMotion display technology, with these features limited to the MacBook Pro models.
Display analyst Ross Young has said the 15-inch machine will be included
M2 and M2 Pro Chips
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said that Apple is working on a 15-inch notebook for launch in 2023. He did not mention whether this Mac would be a acMacBook Air, but given other rumors, it seems likely.
Kuo believes that the 15-inch MacBook will be available with both M2 and M2 Pro chip options. The M2 chip used in the 2022 MacBook Air has an 8-core GPU and up to a 10-core GPU, but we do not yet have details on the M2 Pro.
Naming
Kuo has said that the 15-inch machine that Apple is working on may not be in the MacBook Air line, but other rumors have referred to it as an Air.
Lunch deal
The larger screened 15-inch MacBook could be released as early as the spring of 2023, according to Bloombergis Mark Gurman. Kuo has said the 15-inch machine will arrive in the second quarter of 2023 or later, and screen analyst Ross Young also believes it will arrive in 2023.
