Love Island threw its contestants for a loop in the opening episode by pairing them up according to the public vote. By and large the voters did a decent job, though just before the credits rolled a drama bomb exploded when all the girls were given the opportunity to leave their partners. Ruchee and Jess bailed on Mehdi and George, though there’s one couple that already seems to be glued together.
The pair is none other than Molly and Mitchel, who had eyes for each other from the moment they first met. Both seemed over the moon to be paired up, and it wasn’t long before they were making cute little snoring jokes in bed, planning matching bathing suits, and gossiping about the other islanders in private.

All that said we’re just one episode in and there was already the briefest hint of negativity when, as part of a beer pong dare, Jess kissed Mitchel while Molly’s eyes shot daggers. Seasoned Love Island fans will know that even if a couple appears to be perfectly matched things can still go very bad, very fast as drinks are poured and questionable decisions are made.
Even so, right now we’re fully aboard the Molly/Mitchel train and praying for them to make it.
