Add Ethernet and 6 more ports to MacBook with HyperDrive Duo Pro
The HyperDrive Duo Pro is a 7-in-2 USB-C Hub that plugs into the side of a MacBook to add a variety of ports, including Gigabit Ethernet, USB-A and microSD.
It’s designed not to interfere with the new MagSafe 3 power port on the 2021 MacBooks, but the hub is also compatible with any Apple laptop dating back to 2016.
HyperDrive Duo Pro: Add 7 ports with one USB-C hub
The latest Hypers is connected to the MacBook via two USB-C connectors. And there is a patented magnetic grip design that secures the hub further.
The accessory is 4.7 inches by 1.5 inches and 0.44 inches thick, but still has room for seven ports. There is an HDMI port that supports 4K video at 60Hz, a Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 port and a microSD card slot that can transfer data at 104MBps. A USB-A port with a maximum speed of 5 Gbps connects a USB-C port that supports 5 Gbps and a 3.5 mm Audio Combo Jack. In addition, there is a USB-C port that is Thunderbolt compatible and can provide 40 Gbps and 100 W power supply.
Thanks to an adapter, the HyperDrive Duo Pro can also be used with a Chromebook, PC or iPad, as long as they have at least one USB-C port. But it does not fit any of these.
Get it at 50% off
Hyper started offering HyperDrive Duo Pro through crowd-funding site Indogogo on Monday. Early Bird Backers can get the product for $ 49, which is a 50% discount on the regular price of $ 99.
Shipping is scheduled to start in January 2022.
Although the 2021 MacBook Pro models include an HDMI and an SD card reader in addition to USB-C, it is unlikely that Apple will ever make a laptop with a comprehensive range of ports. Those who want Ethernet or another HDMI port will have to turn to hubs like this one.
